I recently bought a laptop and also I had purchased a plextor dvd-r drive a while ago. Well, I'm thinking of buying an external enclosure to hook the drive up to my laptop, but what I'm not sure of is iif USB 2.0 or IEEE 1394 is better?

Thanks.

As long as your laptop supports both, I'd just go with one that supports both. Go grab and enclosure that supports firewire and usb 2.0, grab a lite-on 16x dual layer burner and you'll be set. Probably do it for under $130 if you really look around.

Well, I got a plextor 712a from the hot deals section a little while ago, which is why I'm looking to buy just an enclosure now since it would be cheaper than buying an already built external dvd writer. On newegg the one with both is $15 more than just the USB 2.0 version I'm looking at.
