What's better, an x1900xtx or an x1950xt?

hey all!
man, i don't know about you, but the friggin ati labeling scheme makes me feel st00pid :( i mean, it seems like anything in a x1950 class SHOULD beat anything in the x1900 class. oh well, so much for should. between the x1900xtx and the x1950xt, which one is faster? and how much faster are they than a x1900xt, and how much faster is a x1950xtx than all of em? thanks!

sorry, had left an x out in my original post
so, do the x1900xtx's and the x1950xt's use the same cores?

Well...pretty much...yes. The XTX uses the R580 whereas the XT uses the R580+. The only real difference is that the R580 supports GDDR4 (I believe)

And uh...I made a mistake with my previous post.

The X1950XT is faster.

And I'm sorry, I don't like playing Mugens. :D

They perform about the same, but I would definitely pick the xtx over the xt. Even though the memory on the xt is faster, the xtx has a faster core, and the core plays a bigger difference in performance than the memory. They both use ddr3 memory, but the xtx also has 2x as much memory, which some games will use up at high settings.

OH CRAP! I forgot the XTX has 512 MB of onboard memory!

Well then...

XTX definitely takes the cake!

Depends if they have the same memory amount or not. If the xtx has more memory, then get that because last time I checked the extra memory bandwidth didn't really do a whole lot.

There is not a wide performance margin between either of those 3 cards.

That being said, you can find the X1950XT for <$200, while the X1950XTX is over $100 more, definitely not worth it.

Good luck finding an X1900XTX, i'm sure there out there, but the X1950XT runs with it and is widely available.

If you going to spend >$300 for the X1950XTX, you'd be far better off buying the 8800GTS which has a much better cost/performance ratio.

We bought an X1950XT a couple of months ago (before the 8800GTS 320 prices fell) and love it. It runs everything we throw at it, easily the best choice at the <$200 price point.
