got two old garbage cards, wondering which is better? the 9500 can be soft modded to unlock to 9700 pro, but it has some artifacts due to imperfect pipes, so it has to be left in the stock form, but can be highly overclocked to near 9700 pro speeds.

to keep this a fair contest tho, lets compare the two cards in their stock forms

so whats better?

I wouldn't think the 5200 will win in that game :Q

The FX5200 is really not a gaming card, best for 2d only, the 9500 is outdated but should still be ok for AOE3 since its not a high speed game.

Have you tryed AOE3 with all the eyecandy? a 9500 should play it just fine though with relaxed settings.

two people really voted for it.
they must really be masechists.

Anyway, the 9500 by far. its based on the excellent 9700 core and is about 2-3 times faster than the 5200 fx.

9500 wil run circles around a fx5200.
Literaly you will be able to benchmark the 9500 take it out put it in another comp, install the drivers, and run the benchmark again and it will probaly finish before the fx5200 benchmark.

never had the fx5200, but had an mx440, and the 9500 ran circles around it, especially when overclocked!

Yes, I have AOE 3 & I have a 6800GT so max detail is fine for me at any resolution, also if you read what I posted again slowly, you'll note I said the 9500 should be ok.
