What's better 384 sdram or 256 ddr?

Well usually it's more the better, and in this case I think it is more the better, but ddr is probably faster...

Let the experts come in, but that's just my general idea???

ugh why do you have such odd choices, just buy 384ddr for 10 bux more or whatever it is. unless you already own sdram and want to save money, then the difference depends on what your doing. if you run out of memory it doesn't matter how fast it is

depends...do you need 384mb?

What's installed in there right now? (if anything...) Check your ram usage...if it's constantly near max, then get some more...otherwise, faster is better

Probably 256MB of DDR...unless you happen to doing something that takes more than 256MB then the extra 128 does nothing.

Type of software used:
Photoshop, Internet, MS Office suite, 3d gaming (at this moment Giants and Max Payne), burning cd's, usually running WinTV and ftp while doing any of the above ('cept for 3dgaming).

I would have to say DDR. You afterall bought a DDR capable board? Especially with the current state of memory prices. Dump in a stick of Crucial 256 or two and be on your way.

Best way to find out is to monitor your memory usage. If you're constantly hitting the swapfile, I don't care how fast your memory is, your system is gonna be slow. I personally tend to use a ton of memory, I am CONSTANTLY over 256 easy.
Fast memory is only good if you're not bottlenecking elsewhere, and if you have to hit the page file all the time, guess what, there's your bottleneck.

Once you establish your memory usage, you can make a more informed decision. I'd probably just get 512MB of DDR and just be done with it -- then you have the best of both worlds.
