Whats beter: retailer rebates or manufacturer rebates?

just a general question i have, what is better, manufacturer rebates or the retail or wholesaler rebates? when i say better, which am i most likely to recieve?
 
Depends which retailer, and which manufacturer. It varies a great deal.

For example, have always found Circuit City rebates to be rather quick. Staples as well. Most of the better rebate houses (e.g. Parago/RebatesHQ) are good with customer service. Should you encounter a problem, rather easy to clear up upon actually speaking to a representative.

It seems Seagate rebates as of late have been slow. Many complaints.

CostCo rebates > *

100% online submission, nothing to mail in, receive check in about 4 weeks.
 
Recently, retailer rebates have been doing better for me. I'm yet to see a rebate from the Kingston ram I bought, the HP laptop I bought, or the canned air from whoever makes it.
 
I've never had a problem with rebates. That being said, I receive retailer rebates faster then manufacturer rebates.

I wish we had a Costco close by. 🙁

I would say Manufacturer, because I usually get those back. Best Buy is about 1 in 3.
 
Retailer rebates are a total scam. There is absolutely no reason why they couldn't sell it to you for that price, other than the fact they hope you don't send it in.

well people who don't send in rebates subsidize purchases for me, so i'm all for rebates. i've only had 1 i didn't receive, in about 150 i've sent.

That's basically why I don't ever bother with purchasing items that are advertised for a decent price, but only after rebate.
