I have a Asus K8V SE Deluxe Socket 754 with AMD 64A 754PINS CPU. I want to upgrade my pc2700, please list brand and model number.

also: how can i update BIOs on this board, i heard that there is a special program i have to use, otherwise it will screw up.

Crucial is the best memory you can get. I know a 512MB PC3200 stick runs about $50-60 at their website. As for the bios, Asus has software that comes with the board to update the bios. It should be listed in your manual or on the website.

lol thats a very encompassing statment. crucial makes good memory...but i wouldn't say the best. there are many out there that are just as good.

I've used 3 different kinds in my K8V SE Deluxe.

1. Mushkin PC3500 L II BH-5 (carried over from last m/b). Even with 1.8v, it didn't do very well. I couldn't get over 210 HTT (mainly video artifacting).

2. Corsair PC3200 Value Ram, CAS 2.5. It ran fine at 200 HTT with 2.5-3-3-10 timings with 2.7v. I think I got it stable at 210 HTT with same timings... just can't remember. I swapped it from my second machine while testing my TCCD in the other.

3. Patriot PC3200 XBL 2-2-2-5 (TCCD). Stable at 217 HTT with 2-2-2-10-1T timings with 2.8v.

The Asus BIOS flash utility is very easy to use.

You can't use DDR2.
