What's best hdtv to get for $500 and under?

My roommates and I are looking to buy an hdtv for our apartment, and we put the budget around 500 dollars. What would be the best bang for the buck? And why? Thanks

are there any HDTVs for $500 or less? I recently paid $350 for a nice 27" flat screen TV, but even HDTVs of similar size (wider screened of course, but roughly same volume/mass) were going for around $900 or so, and even the little monitor type TVs are really expensive, so it isn't as if you will find reduced prices with smaller TVs. I seriously doubt you'll find what you're truly expecting to get for $500. If it were me, I'd shell out the $500 into as big/nice of a normal TV as you can get, you can live without the minimal HDTV support the currently exists for now and some time to come I'd bet, but I'd say double your budget before you plan on getting anything HDTV, the smaller suckers are still really expensive even compared to the nicer looking boob tubes of the flat screened 27-36" genre, cause really you're looking at $1000 for a 30 inch HDTV...

HDTV for 500$? Count me in!
My 29" flat-screen Wega costed ~500 and that's not a HDTV. If you don't live in the US, don't expect too many HDTV channels, either.

Techbargains had a link the other the other day that Circuit City had a Zenith 27" HDTV marked down to $450.

For that budget, probably a CRT monitor.

I got my 36" Panny from a past deal for $900. its a flat screen tau and looks almost near hdtv. Awsome

Sorry to cut in, but what about a TV with progressive scan capabilities for under $500?
