Whats best for the company?

I guess its different for everyone. Is better to stay home sick or come in sick and risk getting others sick.

Depends on your agency/department's sick leave use policy, and also on what kind of illness you have. Perhaps the poll would be better if it referenced being contagious rather than being sick.

If you're sick, stay the hell away. About 2 weeks ago, some jackass brought something into my office, which proceeded to put 4-5 people out of commission, including me. Being the asshole that I am, I still went to work after a night of alternating chills and burning fever; had a 104 F fever when I got home. Then I went the next day too since it was Friday.

If you are really sick and think your contagious then stay home. If you just have the sniffles then get to work and warn people to stay away if they get too close. I'm no germophobe by any means.

But if you're calling in sick more than a few times a year (once per quarter) some disciplinary action or at least a written warning should be given.

I figure I caught it from one of you fuckers...I'm coming into work and sharing it...😀

IMO, it really depends on what kind of work you do, how much you interface with other employees, how much work you can do while sick, and/or how much work you WON'T get done if you sit at home.
WTF, you're gonna feel like shit if you stay at home, why not go to work and feel like shit and get paid for it?

I'm salaried, so if I show up for one second and then go home, it counts as being there the full day, so I'll sometimes come in and leave early if I'm not feeling that great. But, if I'm really sick then I'll just stay home.

It depends.

Mildly sick, but it's a deadline day. Be there.
Big sick & deadline day: call in from the Dr.'s & will come in on demand only.

Stay home. Watch LOTR Trilogy and sleep on the couch. You'll be happy, your co-workers will be happy, it's a win win situation.

Depends on how sick and if there is anything urgent for that day. If there is nothing urgent, I'll either work from home or sick day.

All depends on how sick you are.

Generally I would just stay home. You're not going to be productive if you're sick and you could get others sick. That's a double whammy.

If you want to make a good impression, then go in sick, fuck around for a while and leave sick very early. It makes it look like you made an effort above and beyond.
