What's Best CPU to use with Abit KT7????

So right now I have an Abit KT7-Raid that's running a Duron 650 and I want to upgrade my processor desperately. I upgraded my bios to version 3R (released in July) and it looks like it says I can run a 1.4 T-Bird 200 MHz FSB but the L1 bridges MUST BE LOCKED. Don't know why that's necessary but that's what it says. But it doesn't say if I can run a 1.33 T-Bird that's unlocked.

Also, I don't know if a 266 MHz FSB T-Bird will work on my motherboard. I would like to get a 266 because when I upgrade my motherboard (eventually), I want a CPU that will take full advantage of it. So will a 266 MHz FSB CPU even run on my motherboard or what? I'm thinking it will work, but it'll just work at 200 MHz, which is fine. Please correct me if I'm wrong!!

So it looks like officially, the best I can do safely is a 1.2 GHz 200 MHz FSB T-Bird. But I would like to do better.

I can't say for sure, but I think you can run @ 266 on that board. I had the recomended max (1.2/100) in that board & that seemed like it was as high as it wanted to go. I never could get the chip to O/C (by more than 36mhz or so) and at that I had to up the voltage a tad. I was using the original BIOS which may have been part of it, but it was a very stable board. The issue you'll have to have is that you'll have to unlock the CPU. For example, a 1.2ghz T-bird uses a multiplier of 9 (133x9), if you plug this in a 100mhz FSB board you'll get 900mhz. If you unlock the multiplier you could get the highest mult the chip has (not sure of 1.2/133s).

Of course on the other hand you could always sell the CPU w/ the board when you decide to upgrade.
