What's Best: Cambridge DTT2500, DTT3500, or Klipsch Promedia

I was just wondering if I could get some opinions from people out there. I watch DVD movies on my PC quite often but don't play many games at all.

I've been really impressed by Dolby Digital 5.1 audio, and was wondering what the best PC speaker set for it is. I know that the Cambridge DTT2500's sound very good to me, but I've heard nothing but excellent things about the Klipsch Promedias. Any opinions? I know that the Promedias are downmixed to 4.1, but do they still offer digital SPDIF input and such?

Also, how about the Cambridge DTT3500s? They appear to be improved versions of the DTT2500s so I suspect they would sound better, but every hardware review I've read of them gives them a lower rating than the 2500s. Do they actually sound worse or has the competition just gotten much better? Anyone have any experience with Altec Lansing's Dolby Digital offerings?

All input would be appreciated.

Dolby digital is great and all, but I really don't see how people who watch movies on their computer can really take advantage of the 5 discreet channels.

Oh, one more thing. Just got back from CompUsa and they have the ProMedias so maybe you can check one out locally and demo them.

competition got better....or mroe people realized the competition...

anyway, the klipsch pm are better, but the DTT2500s are really good...i wouldn't bother w/ the higher priced 3500s, simply because the difference isn't worth the additional cost, IMO.

if you have a sound card that supports hardware dolby digital decoding (i.e. sb live 5.1, philips acoustic edge, turtble beach santa cruz, etc.) then u can get the DTT2200s for WAY WAY cheaper...they put out slightly less power, and don't come w/ a built in dolby digital decoder - hence their relative cheapness...

Klipsch PM dont use the Digital SPDIF. I own them and they rock. For dvds they are amazing and they can get very loud which I like. The creatives dont compare to the Klipsch PM.

My 2cents:

Although I have never hand any first-hand experience with any of these three speakers, but I'd go with a 5.1 speaker setup rather than with a down-mixed 4.1 setup. Reason being that since you watch DVD movies on your computer, you'd get better sound separation with a 5.1 setup. Furthermore, if you come across those d#@$ titles with loud sound effects and very soft speech (e.g. The Hunted), you can boost the center channel manually.

Thanks for the input everyone.

I'm using the DTT2500s now but I have the good fortune of getting to try the Klipsch soon - I'll
give them both a shot and see which ones sound better.

I heard a rumor that Klipsch has plans to offer an upgrade to the Promedias from 4.1 to a true 5.1 setup sometime in the near future. Is there any truth to this?
