What's an easy way to record something on the radio to mp3?

Is there a device that will record from your receiver like a cassette used to years ago? Like taking your iPod in reverse? I'd rather not hook up my laptop or such, I know I can do that.

I thought virtual audio cable was freeware, but it's not. Oh well.

I would like to use something portable, like an iPod. Did you read my post?

there are a number of devices that do this, they range from low quality, basic models, to very high end portable multitrack units.

if you're willing to spend a few hundred bucks, I really like the edirol r-09 (which is soon to be replaced with the r-09HR). it's reliable, powered off AAs, easy to use, and reasonably high quality on line-in. records to SD and SDHC cards.

Yeah, get a real mp3 player. A great many can record via line-in, or even directly from a built in FM recorder if they have one.

I read half of it because you posted in the wrong forum. ;)
