I got two from Fry's but is it possible to enable the full 512k cache?

512MB of cache? Whoah, no wonder so many people are buying them!!

I'm not sure about enabling the cache, I read before that it is possible but forget where. Also, enabling the extra cache makes Thorntons run hotter, and decreases their o/c potential from what I've read.

Oh wow no. Yes you can enable them. It should only run about a degree hotter if that, and you should be able to get withing 100mhz of the same overclock. However this all hinges on if you got a thorton that has bad cache so it was disabled or if it was just disabled. good luck man.

I wonder why I hear so little about this chip. I guess it's no big deal. I believe it's just a barton with half it's cache disabled. That would make it a standard XP, wouldn't it?

1. Some Thortons may be marked that way because some of the cache may be bad so they lopped off half of it.
2. It's 512KB not MB. ;)
