What's a Windows Neptune?

When Win2000 was still under beta testing, Microsoft begun the development of the next edition. At first there were two different approaches, code-named Neptune and Odyssey for home and business use respectively, both based on NT technology (=New Technology Technology 😀).Eventually at the end of 1999 Microsoft decided to adopt a unique approach for both home and business and this is when Whistler appeared.

Blackcomb is the 64-bit version of Windows for Intel Itanium and AMD Sledgehammer. And I am definite Neptune was prior to Whistler (which is in beta stage right now).Neptune never proceeded beyond alpha stage.
