What's a soft skill?

I never heard of the term "soft skill" before.

What does it mean?

Dealing with customers and co-workers (aka "people skills") would be one example.

Indeed. Any skill that someone should be expected to have, regardless of their field of employment/career path. Teamwork, People skills, and all that other junk that HR people usually skip over.
