People use the term 3rd world country for really backwards (technology wise) places. But what happened to 2nd world?

Huh. Good question. If I were to make up an answer, I'd say third world countries are still operating under mostly agricultural societies, second world are in industrial societies, and first world are in technological societies. That's me making it up though, and it's got to be inaccurate.

that's what you think 3rd world means? it's more like underdeveloped and devloping asian and african countries, not "backwards technology wise" places.

well after the crash of the udssr i think most of the east european countrys were 2nd world countrys (should have changed in the meantime).
