What's a safe CPU temperature?

What is considered a maximum safe operating temperature for a CPU?

The maximum for today's? I'd say around 60 degrees Celcius.

I like to keep my T-Bird chip no higher than 40 degrees celcius, but currently mine runs at about 32 degrees celcius.

It doesn't cost much to keep the temperature low, so I just let my overactive concience take over on the situation 🙂

Bill Martin, what's the ambient temperature of your room? Right now it's hot where I am, so I think 40 would be very hard to maintain without a Peltier since the air temp is around 90.

I have a T-bird 900 with a poor case but have slightly modded it and get 44c with standard Taisol,I had it at 52c once full load and it was stable before my Mods and fans were installed.So try and keep it in the 40-50c range.

Mine is running at 44c right now with a large Taisol (don't remember the number, but it's the one Anand reviewed). My case is larger than some other midtowers so I'm thinking of putting in a second case fan.

Grrl,the temp you have is fine but adding a case fan will do no harm.
