What's a quick way to lose weight? Possible to lose 15lbs in 3 weeks?

Shouldn't be too hard right? I weigh around 165 right now and want to get to around 150. I used to be 140 back in high school but I was pretty skinny. I just want to get rid of this pot belly that has showed up since I started college. I guess the biggest problem is I usually only eat 1 meal a day. Mainly to save money. Guess I should try eating more often. I do ride my bike everyday to and from school but I guess that's not enough. Maybe I should start working out too?

How good are you at handling pain? If you're capable, do a search for one of those 'do-it-yourself liposuction' on google.

Eat more regularly, and exercise.
The correct way to diet is to reduce input/increase output of calories.

Three weeks might be pushing it, but you'd be back in fighting shape in no time.

just start running and don't stop until 3 weeks have passed. if you don't eat anything along the way, you can lose a lot more than that

Run Forrest run.

this is an extremely bad idea. any "diet" you undertake to lose that much weight will result in you starving yourself, and regaining much of the weight in a few weeks. work out, eat 5 small meals throughout the day, and target 1-2 lbs per week.

typically, a person can lose 2lbs a week healthly. Unless you are obese, or greatly overweight.

Same thing happened to me. I was never really skinny but I weighed about 160 in HS. Started college this year and went up to about 175. One day I just decided to lose the bigger belly I had created so I ran 2 miles a day on the treadmill, walked instead of taking the bus at school (20 min from parking lot), and no fast food. I live at home so the eating better part was easier for me. Just reduced calories quite a bit and no junk/fast food at all. I would say I lost 15 pounds in about 3-4 weeks. My weight fluctuates greatly so i dont know if its just me or anbody can lose weight that quickly. I mean my weight can have a 10 pound range in 1 week.

Oh, and lets say your dietary needs are 2333 calories...

if you starve yourself AND your metabolism doesnt suffer

every 3 days you are shorting yourself 7,000 calories... which is 2lbs of fat.

so 3 weeks = 21 days, so 14lbs of FAT would be the MAXIMUM amount of FAT you could lose in 3 weeks without exercising additionally, assuming you body didnt go into starvation mode.

Realistically, to do it right you need to eat at least 1,000 calories to keep your body from fugging up its metabolism...

so thats 1000 calories a day, 21 days, 21,000 calories

So to make up for that you have to burn 1,000 calories in exercising each day, which should be no problem if you jog/workout 2-3 hours a day.

So yes, you could lose 14 lbs of fat, in 3 weeks, by eating a high protein diet of 1,000 calories a day, as long as you burn 1,000 calories in exercising EVERY day of that 3 weeks

make sense?

the best way to lose weight effectively is through regimented conditioning. * basically what that entails is you hire me to beat you in the face with a shovel everytime you put food in your mouth. after about 10 times you will conditioned to not put food in your mouth.

my rate is $20 per hour + $10 per beating.

* not responsible for death or injuries. must provide own shovel.

Cup of Noodles 3x a day. Cheap, you will loose weight, your in college so nutrients don't matter anyway.

Now where's the fun in that?

Seriously, your goals should be to healthily lose the weight, not shock your body with a massive drop and then go back to your normal ways.

First off, your goal is not to lose weight, it is to become more lean. What does the actual number mean for your body and your frame? The reason to use the weight is to set a target and then keep track of how you are doing.

You need to incorporate weight training with the cardio. Muscle burns more calories at rest than fat, so by gaining some weight you will be in fact losing more in the long run. A good balance of at least 15 min cardio and 15 min weight training will help you gain strength and lose weight. Check out ExRx for exercises and workout schedules/log books.

My example, in January I got serious about going to the gym again (not a New Years resolution, I had seriously injured my back and it finally wasn't causing me pain). Starting on January first I weighed 220 on a 6'3" frame, as of yesterday I'm down to 206.5. My goal is 180, but I will never get there because after a certain point I will be gaining more muscle than I am losing fat, which is acceptable because I will look like I'm 180, except for the bulging chest and biceps (ok, maybe not bulging, but noticeable 😀)

I have not used this plan personally, but many others i have talked with swear that it works and makes them feel great.

DISCLAIMER: i am not saying this is the best thing to try, but i am giving you this to consider. 🙂

This 7-day eating plan can be used as often as you like. If correctly followed, it will clean out your system of impurities and give you a feeling of well-being. After only 7 days of this process, you will begin to feel lighter by at least 10 pounds and possibly 17 pounds, and experience an abundance of energy.
SOUP:

1 or 2 cans of stewed tomatoes
3 plus large green onions
1 large can of beef broth (no fat)
1 pkg. Lipton Soup mix (chicken noodle)
1 bunch of celery
2 cans green beans
2 lbs. Carrots
2 Green Peppers

Season with salt, pepper curry, parsley, if desired, or bouillon, hot or Worcestershire sauce. Cut veggies in small to medium pieces. Cover with water. Boil fast for 10 minutes. Reduce to simmer and continue to cook until veggies are tender.

This soup can be eaten anytime you are hungry during the week. Eat as much as you want, whenever you want. This soup will not add calories. The more you eat, the more you will lose. You may want to fill a thermos in the morning if you will be away during the day.

DRINKS:
Unsweetened juices
Tea (also herbal)
Coffee
Cranberry juice
Skim milk
Water, water, water

DAY ONE
Any fruit (except bananas). Cantaloupes and watermelon are lower in calories than most other fruits. Eat only soup and fruit today.

DAY TWO
All vegetables. Eat until you are stuffed with fresh raw, cooked or canned veggies. Try to eat green leafy veggies and stay away from dry beans, peas or corn. Eat veggies along with the soup. At dinnertime tonight reward yourself with a big baked potato and butter. Don't eat any fruits through today.

DAY THREE
Eat all the soup, fruit and veggies you want. Do not have a baked potato. If you have eaten as above for three days and not cheated, you should find that you have lost 5-7 pounds.

DAY FOUR
Bananas and skim milk: Eat at least 3 bananas and drink as much milk as you can today, along with the soup. Bananas are high in calories and carbohydrates, as is the milk but on this particular day, your body will need the potassium and carbs. Proteins and calcium to lessen the cravings for sweets.

DAY FIVE
Beef and tomatoes: you may have 10 to 20 ounces of beef and a can of tomatoes, or as many as 6 tomatoes on this day. Eat the soup at least once today.

DAY SIX
Beef and veggies, eat to your heart's content of the beef and veggies today. You can even have 2-3 steaks if you like with green leafy veggies but no baked potato. Be sure to eat the soup at least once today.

DAY SEVEN
Brown rice, unsweetened fruit juice and veggies, again, be sure to stuff yourself and eat the soup. You can add cooked veggies to your rice if you wish.

By the end of the 7th day, if you have not cheated on this diet, you should have lost 10 to 17 pounds. If you have lost more than 17 pounds, stay off the diet for two days before resuming the diet again.

This diet is fast. The secret lies within the principle that you will burn more calories than you take in. It will flush your system of impurities and give you a feeling of well-being. This diet does not lend itself to drinking any alcoholic beverages at any time. Because of the fat build-up in your system. Go off the diet at least 14 hours before any intake of alcohol.

Due to the variety of digestive systems in individuals, this diet will affect everyone differently. After day three, you will have more energy than when you began, if you do not cheat. After being on the diet for several days, you will find that your bowel movements have changed. Eat a cup of bran or fiber. Although you can have black coffee with this diet, you may find that you don't need caffeine after the third day.

The basic fat burning soup can be eaten anytime you feel hungry during the seven days. Eat as much as you wish. Remember the more you eat, the more you will lose. You can eat broiled, boiled or baked chicken instead of the beef. Absolutely no skin on the chicken. If you prefer, you can substitute broiled fish for the beef on only one of the beef days. You need the high protein in the beef for the other days.

Continue on the diet as long as you wish and feel the difference both mentally and physically.

I seriously would NOT recommend trying to lose 15 lbs in 3 weeks, but if you must, the plan LolaWiz recommended seems fairly good, though I would say you should go for green tea (several cups a day) in particular as opposed to any herbal tea.

And don't listen to people who say don't eat carbs, as they are an excellent source of energy when doing a lot of intense excercise. I would actually increase the amount of calories you get from carbs and decrease from fat. I doubt that you will reach the 2,500 calories a day defecit needed to lose 15 lbs in 3 weeks however, or at least not without feeling like crap and hungry all the time. You might be able to achieve this amount of loss by going on a liquid fast, but I myself have never done so and am not sure about the specifics or safety of doing so; I would consult with a professional.
