What's a nice, fashionable digital watch?

Dont think they really exist.

Why does it need to be digital? Can you really not read an analog watch?

Is there anything similar out there, in the < 500 USD range?

your $1000+ analog watch isnt fancy enough to wear to a cocktail/wedding/party but a <$500 digital watch might? doesnt compute. maybe get a more modern looking analog watch.

I do quite like what StevenYoo has mentioned, but I will be checking out the other watches more in detail when I have more time.

The reason I want a digital watch is because it's just so damn easy to tell the time. I do know how to tell the time on an analog, but with a digital watch, it's also much easier for me to do conversions to different time zones (such as India, which has a GMT +0430 offset). I guess it's because I can visualize the numbers when I'm adding and subtracting? I'm not quite sure, but I thought it would also be different to have a nice digital watch, whereas everyone where an analog watch.

cerebusPu: yes it is, but it's a bit of a more sportier watch. I did say I was willing to spend more than USD 500 if it was something exceptional, but so far, I don't think anything that has been mentioned is that exceptional.

Honestly, if you're just using it for formal occasions, why not ditch functionality for something that actually looks classy. Having to look at an analog watch would slow you down half a second at most. Seems like that's not a big sacrifice given you clearly realize digital watches dont look as classy as analog ones.

There are a lot of nice looking digital watches out there. Fossil has some nice models. THere is also a whole world of hybrid watches that include both analog arms and a digital background. Ignore the posters here who claim that digital watches cannot be "classy." There are many analog watches that are just big bulky looking boring Rolex imitations that have nothing interesting going on. There are pleny of people who judge things on their style, not the brand.

BUT!

It flips open 007 style!

Giving access to a full calculator, data bank and multi tier alarm! 😀

That is excellent!
And this is definitely something that doesn't exist. Even if Rolex or Omega made a digital watch, it would still be incredibly lame and uncouth-- because it's digital.
