Is the Original wide-angle lens ok or are there better lenses around?

Thanks for any input.

The canon lens is excellent. Even when zoomed out. The problem with it is that it's so honking large it obscures a good bit of the viewfinder necesitating the use of the LCD to frame shots. it also blocks the flash.

The lens it comes with is pretty damn good, but I have been wondering the same thing lately...

Thanks for the info. I always use the LCD cuz that will also be the pic that comes as output, the viewfinder is a little bit different from the LCD. And how do you mean it blocks the flash? You can't mount a flash on it or it gives a shadow when the flash is used?

Thanks for the info! Could you maybe post a pic where you used the wide-angle lens once, and the same pic without wide-angle? Only if you have enough time of course.

Thank you.

My work-issued Nikon D1. You can see it partially in the 2nd picture. Lighting sucks because it doesnt have built in flash and my hotshoe flash for it is in the car. its a cheap bench from some mega sports store, and the room serves double duty as my office, unfortunately.

it wasnt an exact test, and I suspect I accidentally moved back when I took the shot with the WA lens off (i.e., the adaptor probably adds a little more "wide" than my picture shows", but not by much. and yes, that room is very, very dirty. i know it.

Thanks a lot! It's quite a difference. And I guess the further the picture goes(don't know how to say, but if the objects are further away), you gain more and more "image". Damn my English sux...

What do you mean by original wide angle lens ?
Is it WA adapter by Canon or your normal wide end zoom ?

If you are looking to get wider, I think WCON-08 is pretty good. Kinda expensive though.
Canon WC-DC58N is not cheap too. Same quality.
