What's a good way to conect a PS2 to a laptop

I suppose you could get a hauppauge wintv-usb to bring video in thorugh the USB port.

Does anyone know of another solution that is cheap and elegant? My buddy is shipping out to Afghanistan, and needs an easy, compact way to get his game on.

Nope that's about it. Some cards have a slight lag from encoding the captured frames and sending them on to the PC, so try to find a card with reviews mentioning this kind of use. Being "two frames behind" isn't noticeable if you're just watching TV.

You might search / advanced search (archived) in the Video forum too.

That's an important point. My pvr-250 has a huge lag from buffering the incoming video. For a gaming applicaiton, this would have to be reduced to almost zero.
