What's a good way to clean out soda/juice from slots and connectors?

One of my nephew's friends spilled juice or soda in my nephew's computer and it's a big mess. He's been using it for months since then. He says he didn't know about it.

It's in all the RAM and PCI-E slots (especially the empty ones). Is there something good for cleaning that?

Case is an Antec 900...so yeah.

Completely remove the motherboard and wash it using water and a toothbrush. Remove the battery and the cpu fan before washing. Let it dry completely before reinstalling.

To be extra safe I'd say give it a quick dunk in IPA first, then give it a thorough cleaning in distilled water. Would help if you could gently blow dry/vacuum the surface prior to working on this to get rid of as many surface particles as you can.

That's isopropyl alcohol and not India Pale Ale if anybody is wondering.

Use only the alcohol, water ,even distilled water ,can pick up traces of minerals off the board and it sometimes doesn't evaporate in tight spaces like connectors.

Or if you want to really do it the right way you can use the same thing they use to clean PCB at the factory there is a product called electro-wash, about $15 a can.

my father spilled soda on his iphone and my brother poured alcohol in the charging port and then dried it with a hair dryer and it came back to life. i had never heard of doing this, even att and apple just told me to put it in rice (yeah right, im sure thatll work) .

I spilled tomato juice into my Rosewill Blackhawk's power button. I rinsed it out with IPA because it was shorting out the power switch, and tilted it, and let it dry overnight, and now it's mostly ok.

I am always amazed how well diet soda cleans off my counter-top at work when I spill diet soda on it. I think soda itself is quite acidic, it is just the sugar and water coloring that are a pain.

people clean battery terminals on cars with soda all the time. carbonic acid works well for that.

Rice actually works quite well for drying something out because it absorbs water vapor in the air quite readily. It won't do crap about a sugary residue bridging some contacts though.
