Firebird Modern? Just installed it now. It's about right... I kinda like... smidge rough on the eyes maybe.

actually i was referring to the browser firebird, not the theme. 😀

edit: ah, now i saw your edit... so you are using firebird.

i do like modern. doesnt look hard on the eyes to me at all... a lot better than the standard theme. i do think the new tab button has a bit too much space on either side, though..

Skypilot 🙂

For firebird I just use the default, but because of my windows xp theme its all brushed aluminum and looks really (really) good.

screenshot, and yes, that is windows xp 😉

Since we're on the topic of Firebird, how do make links that normally open a new window open in a new tab instead? When I used Mozilla it worked but I don't see an option for it in Firebird... I have to right click and use 'open in new tab'.

Ripped from tips and tricks page of firebird info site.

Open external links in new windows or tabs

If another program wants to display a web page in the default browser, Mozilla Firebird will reuse an existing window by default, which means that it will navigate from a page you might be reading. To stop this, add the following code to your user.js file:
// Stop reusing active windows:
user_pref("advanced.system.supportDDEExec", false);

What about new tabs instead of windows then? If you prefer tabs instead of windows, you must also install Tabbrowser Extensions, a very powerful extension that enhances the functionality of the tabbed browsing. After installing the extension, follow these instructions (make sure you didn't forget to add the above code to your user.js file):

1. Make sure you didn't forget to add the above code to your user.js file.
2. Select Tools > Options > Extensions, select Tabbrowser Extensions and click Settings.
3. Expand the Category list and select the topmost sub-item (it's supposed to read Advanced Tabbed Browsing but the Category list is too narrow).
4. In the Window Mode drop-down listbox, select Use multiple browsers only when I open them.

Done! Now any link opened by an external program, such as your e-mail client, will open in new tabs.

Go get the tab browser extension here. Tons of options to fiddle around with.

Whoa where'd you get that theme? Me likey! 🙂

Um.... I think its one from http://www.jonmega.com/~iceman/
Oh weak... It's an OSX emulation? I just liked the brushed aluminum look. 😱 Maybe I'll try it... easy to remove?

And only 1024x768 and 1280x1024 versions? Or are those technically just aspect ratio bases and it'd be ok to scale the former to 1280x960?

Not really OSX emulation, its just a theme. I only use it before of the brushed aluminum. Its really easy to remove, I just use StyleXP by TGTSoft to switch between themes.

I run it at 1600x1200 and it seems to be fine.

Same here.. To me, most skins and themes (winamp excepted, because the default is so damn ugly) don't look quite right.
