I find that techno w/o words helps me study the best. Which albums do you guys like that fit the bill?

If you have broadband, just listen to Digitally Imported; no need to go buy an album or anything.

Anything from Ferry Corsten/DJ Tiesto, their CD's would be a good start

iTunes has a bunch of DI's stations listed for easy listening. I'd just find a bunch of good channels and listen to iTunes.

I too find that trance without vocals helps me study. That is, when I don't break out in a sweet dance.

techno*: Paul Oakenfold - Tranceport

Arguably (one of) the best techno* album(s) ever created

* Technically it's trance, but "techno" is the accepted word for any kind of electronic music made... and trance is the majority of the American idea of electronic ("techno") music.

Still... that mix is probably one of my all-time 3 favorite CD's... after all this time it still sits in my CD player about 50% of the time.

About the time electronic music in America really hit the mainstream audience. Trance, and by association/reputation/skill the biggest name in trance: Oakenfold.

Americans chose with their pocketbooks which genre of electronic music to consider mainstream techno... that was trance (all the DNB, industrial, house, etc zealots will argue with me). Oakenfold was the man with the vision and the sound to attract everyone to him at the right time (how many other electronic music artists have been as successful in the states?)

<sigh>
<pours one out for those that won't be coming back>

<--- was at the last ever Twilo (coincidence that they were shut down the next day), my first time ever seeing PVD or being in NY (drove 5 hours up to NY to see him/it). Had one of the greatest times in my life.

Definitely a huge experience, but seeing Oakenfold down in MD was a bigger experience.
