Minolta Dimage X is small, and runs around $300 I think.

Not bad. Not as good as the Canon, but still pretty good.

Check out reviews at dpreview or stevesdigicams for examples.

Canon S330 or S200 are very nice small digicams. S330 runs about 399 and the S200 runs about 349 but i'm sure you can find a hot deal on it somewhere :)

Edit: If you're looking for semi cheap/decent you can always try the Nikon CoolPix 2500. It has no viewfinder so you have to shoot using the LCD Screen saw them in yesterdays frys ad for 277 (So Cal area only maybe?)

It's not really mini but the Fuji Finepix 2600 is an excellent entry level digicam.

If you try, you could get it for around $250 brand new.
