What's a good sedan for under $20K

This is an awkward budget because you can't exactly get Accord, Camry or Altima with $20K...

How about preowned or year end clearance? When does clearance happen anyway?

This is for my dad.

Yes you can. 2 of my colleagues got new Camry LX's for about $16200 last year.

You can buy a very nice brand-new Ford Taurus for much less than 20K. Now, whether you want to be driving one is another question altogether 😛

What do you think about Nissan Altima used? (whichever 20K allows) Do they have problems in the older models? (03-04~)

A lot of really nice used cars can be had in that budget. Lightly used Atima SE's. Year or two old Maxima's.

I've seen some off lease Avalons going in that range too.

New you will be limited to 4 cylinder, lower optioned vehicles. Just a question of wants/needs.

Maxima, Altima

I also like the late model Grand Prix's. You can get one of the new body styles for under $20K with the GT package. Resale value sucks, so plan on keeping it for a while; but I hear the engine & tranny are rock solid

Hyundai Sonata. $20k should get you pretty loaded new one.

I know, I've been advocating the brand new Sonata like crazy, they want nothing to do with it due to their nightmare experience with 96 Sonata.

I keep telling them Hyundai's come VERY FAR but they still don't want to. It's Hyundai's fault really, you can't really blame consumer's mindset.. 🙁

mazda 6s

may have to go used but if you are lucky you can probably snag one for less than 20K (not including TTL) since they will probably be heavily discounted

20609 seems to be the edmunds baseline price

but the baseline includes, power doors, windows, keyless, and single CD and manual transmission

there is a recent graduate discout of 500 as well so that pushes it a hair over 20K

i'm sure by nov/december you should easily be able to get one for less than 20K

If I was in a market for new economy sedan, I would buy the new Sonata for 20k. Of course I rather get nice used luxury sedan like Lexus LS400 with low mileage for around 20-25k.

I'm pretty sure you can snag the 6i for under 20k w/o too much effort. Hell, when I bought my 3s, i could have probably got a 6i for the same price. but hey.. 2005 is clearing out, who knows what you can get anywhere. just look, and see if the dealer will do anything for ya
