What's a good safe & clean LCD cleaner?

I've no clue since this is my first LCD. I hear some alcohol based ones make the screen black or otherwise damage it...

I've been using the Staples stuff on my 213T for a while now and it works great.

Don't use plain tap water, if you go the water route. Mineral deposits and other impurities will leave the plastic screen irrepairably dirty eventually. Either use a different cleanser (avoid alcohol based) or distilled water.

Distilled water or low-mineral bottled water with a microfiber cloth easily and cheaply obtained from optics mongers everwhere (optician, camera shoppe, etc.).

Rather weird question. Can I pass tap water through a filter kettle and boil it then use it? (once it has cooled of course)

Would that water be pure enough?

I don't actually know how well those filters... filter. You could always run the water through a still. Making distilled water. Even if what you're talking about does work, it doesn't sound like it's worth the effort. Distilled water isn't expensive.

I'd say go with compressed air for cleaning the lint and dust off your monitor. If you've got greasy prints or something like that, I'm with the people saying distilled water is a good way to go. Don't bother trying to make it or anything, you can get a gallon of it for ~$.70-$1 at any grocery store. Depending on what you wipe your monitor down with though, you'll get lint all over the screen and end up using compressed air again to get rid of that.
