I recently tried to setup wireless in my house, but I think the airlink pci cards that I bought for my desktops are complete crap. Even when the router is only in the next room I barely get any signal. Only when the router is in my room does it get decent connectivity, even then its very unstable when playing games and such. The builtin wifi in my laptop seems to be working fine, I wanted to know what a decently priced pci or usb card for my desktop pc.

In general, the wimpy antenna on a PCMCIA card will yield poor performance, I've tried a number of brands. Most of the USB 802.11b adapters with an external box and a real antenna will give much better range.
