Hi

guys Im building a system for a friend, I will be using a P4C 2.4, ASUS P4P800, 512mb of pc3200 and he already has one GeForce4 TI4200, one 80GB HDD, one DVD, one CDRW, one soundcard, one net card
and I was wondering what would a good PSU be for this setup, 350 or 400 ? we'll probably OC the CPU

what would you guys recommend ? in the $50 area

please let me know

Thank you
Dan

It's less about watts than about the brand. Many cheapo power supplies carry big numbers on them but they are of low quality. A good brand will make good power supplies, even if the wattage is underrated.

Anyway, Newegg's Allied 400W is a really good one at $33. It has two 80mm fans, but it's very quiet (I didn't have to replace the fans with Panaflos), and works very well for me (and for tons of other people at Newegg, according to the reviews). It may not be as good as, say Antec or Sparkle's 400W, but it's still very good.
