What's a good program to track bandwidth use?

Hey guys,

I am getting annoyed with my ISP and their exceding bandwidth warnings. I have a 95 gig a month cap. I am getting the feeling that they aren't measuring my bandwidth accurately because I seem to be hitting the cap way too soon.

Any good programs out there that I can install and monitor myself?

There is built-in bandwidth monitoring in DD-WRT firmware.

Hmm I have no clue what DD-WRT is. This is a random question, but, if I transfer mass files over my network to other computers in my house, there is no possible way that would add to my total monthly bandwidth usage? I mean, I know it wouldn't...but then again, my ISP is pretty gay.

DD-WRT is free 3rd party firmware that can be used on many compatible consumer routers. And no, the transfer of files within your network should not add to your total monthly bandwidth usage.

Hmm I see. So I would have to flash out the software installed on my router and install that one?

Sorry for being a noob, I used to be good at computers as a teen and a little after that, now I noobed myself down not keeping up with things 🙂

yeah doing it on the router would be the best bet, otherwise you would have to install software on all PC's and have it running all the time and then add it up from all PC's, and then it might also be hard to tell the differnce between network transfers and internet traffic from each PC.
