What's a good place to buy a Persian rug?

I know the markup on them is preposterous, I don't want an heirloom, just something pretty to last 5-10 years...

I'm doing some snooping now... I'll let you know if I find anything.

Thanks

My parents have bought some on ebay, and the prices are very reasonable, even shipping...doubt theyre really persian though

Actually, I would think Egypt or Israel would be the best place if you want to actually travel to the mideast.

Which I don't.

I bought one on e-bay and was pretty satisfied... just wondering if there's anywhere trying to undercut the e-bay merchants?

Rugs are not cheap...I doubt you're going to find any cheaper than you find on ebay

yeah, the rugs there are prety cheap, its the shipping that sucks. 130.00 shipping for a $70.00 rug.

we have quite a few persian rugs. we had them bought on our behalf in persia and shipped here and we still saved alot of money when compared to rug stores. the exchange rate is ridiculously in our favour (even though it's canadian dollars hehe). the only trick is knowing somebody there willing to do this for you..

Persia?

That's what I would think.
That hasn't been a nation since 1935. Try Iran, oh wait...

Well, actually, he could have been referring to the historical area that was Persia, which also encompasses part of Iraq and even parts of Turkey and Azerbaijan and Armenia.

Iraq is also probably a decent place to get Persian rugs. I should be there within 7 months or so, and I'll let you know. 🙂

Yeah I know, a lot of people from that region still reffer to it as Persia. I know a Kurdish family that says their relatives live in Persia (in reality they live in southern Iraq and Iran).

Stay safe.
