After trimming the fat I got about a dozen NY strip here is the after.

mmmm NY strips!!!

so in summary you would not be buying from a cow farmer if you wanted 20 LBS of meet you would buy from a commercial food distribution company. and $50 is way below the mark for any good cut of meat.

I'd say 20lb was bulk. Can you get it online? In cubes?

Yeah, kind of like that; or like a basketball placed in a box and compressed.

Compressed into a sort of cube; you know, like a cube of beef.

Pretty bulky; though not really what you'd consider "In Bulk".

It's still not confirmed that it is indeed cube shaped. Also, if we share the 20lb cube, then surely that will no longer constitute a bulk purchase. The OP clearly wants 'bulk beef'.

Why beef?

Do you have a freezer?

We have door to door meat sales here in Texas, they don't have that where you live?

if you give a cow steroids, do you get "bulk beef" ?

if we are going in on a cube of beef, it'll need to be larger than an alternator, more like the size of a gas tank

Just a cut of meat, like 10-20lbs.

Looking to spend at most $50 shipped.

Live in Illinois, so going to a farm isn't out of the question. I may even go to a farm since I'm going to go to UIUC, and pick it up there, what is a good price to ask a farmer?

Farmer: A farmer is a person who is engaged in agrarian business by using land. The term farmer usually applies to a person who grows field crops, orchards, vineyards or market gardens with a view to selling to others as food. They may, however, provide raw materials for industrial purposes such as grains for alcoholic beverages, fruit for juices, hides for leather, and wool or flax for yarns and cloth-making. Farmers may also be involved in rearing cattle for meat or milk. ...

Ranching is the raising of cattle or sheep on rangeland, although one might also speak of ranching with regard to less common livestock such as elk, bison or emu. The word applies in the western United States, in Canada, Latin America and South America. (Australian usage would refer to ranches as "stations"; New Zealanders use the term "runs".)

Front or rear wheel drive? Front drive trannies are a little more cube shaped, although the rear drive ones seem more bulky.

beef generally refers to steers, so i am not sure that would matter

Yea, I'm thinking of going to the butcher, but why put in an unnecessary middleman? I'm seriously thinking about going straight to the farmer, but don't know what prices would be. Would they be less than a dollar, more, what?

Many slaughterhouse/packagers will sell to you like this. A farmer will want to sell you the whole cow.

EDIT: We raised calves when I was a kid. Me to my mother.. "Mom, this meat sure is tender. Did this come from a cow?" Mom stares at me.. "Well.. you know the oldest calf.."

Me, "Wow, it sure is good." LOL I think one of my cousins cried.

When I raise beef cattle, I put a band around the nuts (which subsequently fall off) to make a steer...nothing else is affected ;)

Here's how I get my beef when I don't get it at Costco:

Mmmm

There is no such thing as "assless" chaps.

If they had a seat, they wouldn't be "chaps".

They would be..."pants".
