Hey gang

I hoping some of you well informed people here can help me out. I?m looking to upgrade my antiquated pc, it?s a PIII 550 with win me. I bought the xp upgrade but it won?t work on my pc. So, I have decided it?s time to upgrade. I?m going to reuse my case and drives, so all I need is a motherboard CPU and memory. I will reformat the drives first. Since I?m on a budget I think the sempron 2800+ would be a good choice.

What I?m looking for is a motherboard recommendation. I?m looking for something with a built in graphics since I do NO gaming, only web surfing and divx/xvid movie watching, mostly TV shows.

Summary:

- I want something stable and reliable
- Overclocking is not necessary
- AMD motherboard and cpu
- I only web surf and watch divx movies. NO games, so an igp board should be fine.
- My budget for cpu, mb, and mem is about $230.

So, what motherboard with on board graphics would you recommend?? Thanks a bunch.

AMD32 or AMD64? NForce2 IGP and KM400A would be your best bet for AMD32; e.g.:

MSI K7N2GM-V Socket A/462 nForce2 IGP Micro ATX - $55 free ship

MSI KM4AM-V Socket A/462 KM400A/VT8237 Micro ATX - $52 free ship

For AMD64, since 3D performance is not important, the best choice for 2D and video is VIA K8M800 UniChrome Pro; e.g.:

JetWay K8M8MS Socket 754 VIA K8M800 Micro ATX - $60.00 shipped

SOLTEK K8M800I-RL Socket 754 VIA K8M800 Micro ATX - $67.50 shipped

You can add-in a cheap Radeon 9200 or 9250 AGP card that would easily out-perform any of these IGP in any category:

Rosewill Radeon 9200SE 64MB DDR AGP 4X/8X Video Card - $30.00 free ship

If you prefer low profile: SAPPHIRE 100583L Radeon 9250 128MB DDR AGP 4X/8X Video Card - $38.00 free ship
