Whats a good MEMORY (RAM) tester?

Sup guys, I current use Gold Mem, but it seems quite shady. Does anyone know of any really good software apps that test memroy (ram) well? If so I'd love to hear what you guys have to say! Thanks!!

DocMemory is what i use and it works well. it is dos bassed and you boot off of a floopy to use it so windows doesn't get in the way. if you use a NT kernel bassed os then you have to get the newer version. or make a boot disk youself on something else.

DocMemory tester

enjoy. oh.. it is free just go to their download section. or you can buy a hardware tester they sell if you got lots of money and don't know what to do with it. 😀

Memtest86 cosistantly finds memory errors that DocMemory misses. I've ran into this issue a few times. When I'm diagnosing someones box I tend to try DocMemory first because it's faster, but lately I've just gone ahead and used Memtest86 (I run the full, 11 test version) in the first place. DocMemory has missed errors so many times I feel nervous if I run it and get no errors. I usually end up running Memtest86 anyway.

Thanks guys..Im going to try memtest86 right now. The problems I've been having with the other mem testers is that they will always freeze during the second or third tests. This even happend with DocMem. I can't seem to get anything to test right! Thanks!

Anohter quick question for the MemTest86 users is: How many times do you let it PASS before you say its good? It takes around 2 1/2 hours to pass 3 times..(256MB PC133 CL2 module). Thanks!

I try and let it go at least 10 times. I've had a few cases where I've got errors on the 6th or 7th test, but never yet past that, so I figure 10 is probably safe. Yeah, it does take a while if your memory is slow, or you have lots of it, but the peace of mind is worth it.
