Whats a good low priced pci video card?

I know someone who wants a good low priced video card. It has to be pci. The only thing i can find is like a v3 2000. Anything out there comparable to a v3 2000? Tnt2 or Savage4 or anything like that close to the performance of the voodoo? His system is a k2 500. Possibly upgrading to a k2+ or k3+ later on.

my bro has that chip and uses a Voodoo3 3000 PCI

Runs quake, half-life, and whatnot but not the greatest performer. Works though and playable
