Well, e.g. Dell 2001FP is supposed to be good but to be honest, I don't believe in good gaming LCDs... yet.

I was just asking that same question roughly over the weekend after my CRT blew on Friday. It came down to the VP201s and the VP912b, 20 and 19 inch Viewsonics 16 and 12ms respectively. In the end I chose the VP201s partially because of the size and also because staples.ca has a no payment/interest for 6 months. The Dell 2001FP that I have seen recommended numerous times on this board according to reviews is NOT a good gaming monitor if you are picky about ghosting, I am picky about ghosting.

So I got it yesterday I have played UT 2004 and Doom 3 without a hint of ghosting. Image isn't quite as good when not running doom 3 in native mode of 1600x1200 BUT I am don't know how much of that is the monitor and how much is... well everything looks better in higher res! So gaming it is great. Pivot, cable management, built in 4 usb ports, ability to hook it up to two computers, telescoping head (think office chair) to easily raise and lower height. My only issue is I couldn't get it in black as staples nor bestbuy would order it and everywhere else wanted $200 more.

Planar's are the best for 3D gaming. Most LCD's look terrible running games at anything besides their native resolution but the Planar runs great at other resolutions with little ghosting or streaking.:)

Recently got the Dell 2001FP and its wonderful.

I was previously using a Microtek 19" LCD that worked quite well also but its no 2001FP. Afterall there is a reason why these are so popular in the Hot Deals forum.

VP201s and Dell 2001FP uses the same LG/Phillips panels. Both are 16ms panels and basically the same LCD except Dell has Svideo and composite in. For US resident, 2001FP is cheaper and better option.

If 2001FP ghost, then so will VP201s.

Sony SDM-HS94P has to be the single best choice for a gaming rig for the next several months if you're into 19'' TFT. The European version however is quite a lot better: 170 viewing angle instead of 160, 16.7mil colors instead of 16.2mil. Can't wait to have it on my hands... =)
