Moen and American Standard are about the best (just replaced my kitchen and bathroom sink a couple of months ago). Not too hard of a project either.

My roommate says that the guy from home depot took apart a moen faucet and showed him that moen uses "plastic something bearings" that are replaceable and other brands (am. standard, delta) use ceramic.

Yeah I forgot kohler but I usually only think of them for bathroom fixtures and their awesome engines.
Me too.. although I didn't realize it was the same Kohler that made faucets.

I've been a home owner for 13 years now, and not only do I not know where a bearing would be used in a faucet, I have never had to replace one :)

All parts are replaceable with Am. Standard. That's what I used and everything is modular on it.

The real German stuff is the best you can get. Try going to home depot expo.

They are part of HD but higher end with a much better selection than HD.

I have replaced all the faucets in my house with ones made by Price-Pfister and have been very impressed. One of them came with a broken part in the box (a plastic fin on the drain popup). I called their 800 number on a Sunday afternoon, got a human voice after 3 rings, and they shipped a replacement with no questions asked. The friendly woman on the phone even cheerfully reminded me of their "lifetime warranty" and told me to call anytime if I ever am dissatisfied. Big thumbs up for that kind of service!!!

They start at like $300. I would rather get a stainless steel toilet.

Any brand with a ceramic valve will do. Avoid the old-style ball valve at all costs. They simply don't drip. We've had ours for more then 10 years now.

they charged me $5 for shipping last time! I should've just bought another one and return the busted one to the store. ;) I would stay away from pricepfister, their stuff are cheaper for a reason.

I don't remember my faucet costing that much. Maybe in the mid to high $100s though they can get pricey. They have a less expensive line of products too.

I've done 2 renovations of my last 2 homes and basically lived at HD and HDE. For one, I can tell you Kohler is overpriced crap. I had a new shower installed in my co-op using Kohler and some stupid valve broke. I had to rip the wall back down which cost me $1500 to do just to replace some cheap part. Because of that I looked for alternatives and will never buy Kohler again.

My old place was practically all Kohler. Now its all Hans Grohe with Duravit sinks. If I replaced the toilets, it would have been Toto.

kohlert is great, but they cost enourmous amounts.

cheaper would be moen, price pfister, delta, glacier bay. all are good, it really just depends on what design you like.
