whats a good credit card interest rate these days?

looking for a card to cover perdiem expenses while i travel for work. I don't really expect to carry a balance on it, but the university is sometimes slow with cutting reimbursment checks.

alright, that sounds about what i am hearing... discover offered me 9.2 or 0.0 for 6 months (which i took thinking i can renegotiate in a month or so) and a visa bank offered me 9.9 or something like that.

I guess that raises another question, is discover still a step child of CCs? I am looking for meals and hotel coverage and rental cars, all in large US cities.

Pretty much any card out there that is low is a variable rate. You wont have much luck finding something under 9.9 fixed.

discover has insanly high interest, but with the cash back program as long as you always pay your bill in full you actually save money.

god love capital one

is that fixed? is there an annual fee?

fixed for 12 months with no annual fee.

Pay your bill off every month then change CC's after a year.

not so. Discover has me at 0.0% intro for 6 months, then I will have 9.2% or less.

yep, this is what will likely happen, but still, its something that should be considered regardless.

My chase perfect card is something like 19.9%, but I don't really care b/c I always pay it off in full.

My credit is actually pretty good, ~735 from all 3 credit bureaus. I wonder if I could call up and compain to get a lower APR

my amex blue was 0% for 6 months, then 7.99% fixed for life. in terms of visa/mc, my lowest card is 9.90% fixed. long term, you'd want a card with a low fixed rate. for something where you wouldnt carry a balance at all, then a variable APR is ok. my amazon.com visa is my only variable rate APR card.

I always pay mine off too, but it is 16.99% and my score is about 680 right now, tho typically it is 730+, just a high credit usage for a few months. You could probably get it lowered.
