What's A Good Hi-Speed Broadband in Queens, NY?

So I'm moving within 2 weeks and still searching for a good ISP company and price in Queens New York - in the Flushing area (zip code 11355). Any New Yorkers have broadband in this area, let me know what your service is and tell me if it's worth it... or any suggestions is good. I'm considering cable but DSL is okay too. Thanks!

If you meant the blood of the soldiers that died in the revolutionary war - they were liberals, silly. They were liberals, running from an oppressive government. And that war was fought for necessity.

I'm not 100% sure it's available in your area, but I use NYC Connect on Time Warner Cable physical lines, like the arrangement TWC has with Earthlink. It's the same $44.95/month, but Earthlink usually runs a 3-mo $30/month introductory offer. The advantage is that they apparently aren't idiots when you need customer service or tech support, but I haven't used either.

I'm under the impression that NYC is divvied up between the cable companies, you can get cable internet from your primary provider or use DSL.

Edit: I'm in Flushing, but towards the south. It looks like 11355 is close enough so that TWC will cover you also. RoadRunner direct from TWC is the same price if you get it with cable TV, but alone it's $60.

AFAIK Queens have Road Runner from Time Warner as your cable choice, and Verizon DSL as your DSL choice. There might be alternates, but I'd say this makes up 90%+ of high speed access there. Dunno which is better tho', maybe dslreports.com can help you decide.

I *believe* they get Time Warner there. But of course you always have the option of Verizon DSL.

in the city? optimum cable and verizon DSL. optimum is faster but it's like $50 a month, versus the $30 that verizon charges. 3/768 for me.

Verizon DSL is absolutely horrible in queens. For the past few months its been dead in the water during peak times. Since that went on for three-four months, Ill assume it STILL hasnt been fixed.

I can vouch for Nyct.net as I have an office in one of the 'smart buildings' and they've been absolutely top notch when it comes to support. We have their shared T3 lines and it's never been down.

I'm also switching over to their cable from RR for my home very soon although I live in Manhattan.

DSL and Verizon is the absolute worst combination of service and support you can possibly have. Frequent outages and absolute sh*t customer service.

Thanks for all YOUR input. It seems that Roadrunner is the one to get.

I'm surprised that no one mentioned Earthlink or Covad? I got these two ISP company from doing a pre-qualification search from broadbandreports.com
