Whats a good HD benchmark ?

BTW HD Tach is out of the question because it will not run on Win2k using the NTFS unless you get the registered version for $50.

Really, I did not know HDTach was restricted like that...

Anyway, it sounds like you want a free program. I am sure someone here will come up with something.

But think about this. SpinRite 5! Not only will it repair a faulty HD it has good benchmark abilities. It runs of a floppy so this eliminates the Windows GUI bloat that might affect your hard drives actuall score. I have SpinRite 5 on a boot-disk (yes it all fits on there with room). SpinRite has been around longer than most all dot com's... It's an essential tool for my "PC toolbox." If you don't work on PC's (friends, family, customers), you might want to keep looking for something else since it's $89.00.
