now that ive got c2d 3.1ghz + 8800gs I want to see what it can do.

Tried Farcy, bioshock UT3 and dirt so far.

any other pretty games? demos? tech runs?

 
Oblivion, HL2 with that mod that was just recently posted here, fully updated Far Cry. Maybe BF2 for RAM usage, CS:S for a benchmark on online gaming.
 
Hellgate: London has some really good and playable DX10 effects ..
--very playable on my Xfire rig, maxed out.

Jericho is also graphically impressive - for DX9.

FEAR, Perseus Rising still has the best Particle effects

. . . and Oblivion/S.I. completely dressed up with all the mods is still impressive

Lost Planet is Pretty also on the DX10 path as is CoJ

Crysis is the most impressive in "Very High" but it is a slideshow even on the fastest rigs.
 
If you wanna stress it, run 3D Mark.
Set it to loop a hundred times. Try and run it at the max resolution of your monitor. My CRT goes up to 2048x1536, and I often see the test go down to 1 frame per second.
 
Oblivion with Qarl's Texture Pack, Natural Enviroments, HDR+AA and a high resolution can still be deadly for some systems nowadays. Give it a shot!
