I lost the cap to the one i have right now (some piece of SH** generic brand). I've noticed a lot of these drives have very loose caps. Anyone know of a good one that doesn't have a cap that falls of so easily?

The PNY metal one is pretty solid. But its a ripoff. I'm still using the 64 mb generic one that I got free from AMD and the cap is still on :).

I can't fathom why so many of these things are engineered in such a way that you can lose the cap. Is there a patent that prevents them from tethering the cap to the unit?

If so, that's an abuse of our patent system.

And the retail package ships w/ 3 different color caps to boot :)

I am using Lexar drives. The new version has a very secured cap. The old one still have the cap on.

Because this thing looks awful without it.

Caps provide protection from moisture and chocolcate candy that you might also keep in your pockets.

usb drive, mp3 player and camera????

Just a crappy driverless thumb drive/camera which refuses to take pictures unless there is a light shining right on the subject

Perhaps mine is defective, but they now make better versions. Can't beat $20 for a 64MB Thumbdrive/camera though (Target clearance).

Oh, it has an internal battery that charges through the USB port. I wonder if the MP3 player does too?

I have an Iomega MicroMini 64MB. Expensive for the capacity that you get, but it's tiny. Unfortunately, the keyclip attaches to the swiveling (removable) cover, so I'm concerned about losing the drive, but keeping the cap. The cover attaches pretty sturdily though, so I'm not too concerned. Other than that, I really like it.

DO NOT BUY a LEXMARK. Both my friend and I bought lexmar becasue they had ones that had (still the best) connector that hooked onto your keychain, it was metal.

Both drives lasted about 3-4 months before they just up and died. Eventually I ripped mine open, and all that had happened was that that oscilator (sp? )had fallen off, i did get it to work one last time (holding the oscilator on) and was able to get my files.

WTF kinda company cant make a PCB and get the oscilator to stay on?
