I have a Studio DV coming today or tomorrow and will be using two different cameras with it. Also, I will be trying the software that is bundled with the Studio DV and my copy of Adobe Premiere 5.1 (wish I had 6). I?ll let you know how it works.

I just got my Studio DV and played with it last night. It is a blast. The software that comes with it is really pretty good and would do a good job of basic video editing. I tried a copy of Premiere 6 and the power was amazing. However, like I said?if you are just going to do basic editing the software that comes with the Studio DV is great.

Adobe Premier 6.0 is the best I have ever played with... Especially if you have a DV camcorder as 6.0 is pretty much DV-centric. Simple, straightforward, intuitive, yet incredibly powerful.

Oh... and DO NOT use Ulead Media Studio. WORST EVER.

Oh Oh.... Firewire cards are pretty much all the same when it comes down to it. Just buy a 3 port card and you'll be fine. As far as I recall they all run off the same TI chipset so the meat and potatoes are the same.

Welcome to the world of digital editing... It's a blast but can make you want to tear your hair out too.

Be prepared to waste time and HD space (A LOT of HD space) =)

I agree with Homerboy?be prepared to waste tons of time and hard drive. Also, Adobe Premiere is awesome but the software that comes with the Studio DV is great for quick and dirty (you know what I mean) videos. Well worth the extra $30.
