I'm currently using Zone Alarm Internet Security Suite and i was wondering if there is anything better? Not looking to get and type of Norton as they destroy your resources so some other recommendation would be sufficient. Need something that can do the firewall and antivirus in one program. don't really care about any type of spyware protection as thats what i have Spybot for. Let me know.

1. When you switch to a new security suite, be sure to do a full uninstall of zone alarm (simply using add/remove programs will not remove it). create a shortcut for the uninstall executable of zone alarm and add a /clean at the end to fully purge the True Vector engine.

2. I suggest trying Kaspersky Internet Security

  • I would suggest against installing the parental controls and the spam filter (from reading the reviews)
  • A minority of users are experiencing a strange slowdown, try the free 30-day trial before you buy to make sure that you are not part of this minority, read more here.
  • Kaspersky offers a free upgrade to 7 from 6 if your subscription is good, if you decide to buy, all you have to do is enter your license key from the KIS 6 box into your KIS 7 trial to activate it, no reinstall.
  • Hourly updates
  • One of the best (if not the best) detection rates in the industry, see the antivirus detection rate thread.
  • Minimal ram usage and system performance impact (assuming you are not hit by the mysterious slowdown bug)
3. Best of all, Kaspersky Internet Security is free after MiR right now (a single rebate, noncompetitive (You do not have to own a previous antivirus))

To covert24,

I am just curious why you would prefer a suite rather than mixing and matching components from various companies? Because everything is integrated is the very reason I frown on a suite. But I sure can't disagree with Kaspersky if you demand a suite.

well personally i would rather have a compact suite with everything i need rather than say 3 different programs running at once to do what the one suite program could do. And i just got Kaspersky IS 7.0.125 so im all good.

I use Kaspersky's Internet Security 7 suite. We know the AV is very good. I was told that the firewall program is good and was pleased to find that it does have a good firewall component.

Just be sure that, when you're setting up the firewall component, change the default settings to the highest security settings
