What's a good fan for the SK6 that doesn't require modification to the HSF itself?

I ordered an SK6 from NewEgg and it should be here on Monday. I hear that the stock fan is rather loud though. Is there a drop-in replacement that I can use (I'm not gonna mod this thing or use adapters) that is quieter and performs well:)

I have a 30cfm Delta right now. I cant hear it over my other fans (which is a bit, I must admit) I had the 38cfm 7K rpm Delta before this, and this one is noticeably quieter, with only a difference of maybe 2 degrees.

<< ystech extremes. they are loud but do they do the job! >>

Hmmm, I'm looking at the 31.3CFM YS-Tech fan. It's 5500 RPM and 32CFM vs 7,000/38 for the stock Delta.

Let me add a fan-related SK6 question to this thread instead of starting a new one, which would be rather redundant... :)

I have the choice of 3 60mm fans for the SK6 I plan on buying (package deal), here they are:

1. Sunon 24cfm
2. YS Tech 27.2cfm
3. Thermaltake 31cfm

I plan on using it with an AthlonXP 1500 (1.33ghz) running at stock speed. With that considered, what is the QUIETEST of those fans, and is there a significant dB noise difference between that and the loudest of those three. Also, would either of those 3, including the quietest, be sufficient for the aforementioned CPU. Let's assume I never overclock it.

Logic dictates that the Sunon 24cfm would be the quietest, but I have no info on the type of fan, construction, etc. and in the past there have been countless low-CFM fans which end up being quite noisy.

Use a good 80mm fan,no mod required,much quieter than most 60mm fans.

LocutusX go here to listen to your fans here.

I've used your number 1&2 fans & while there not to bad I found my 80mmCoolPower fan clipped in at a 45 degree angle is quieter & only about 1-2 cel warmer than my YS tech27cfm.

Just a heads up for those considering the Thermaltake 31cfm fan. It does not put out anything near 31cfm. You can even see the sticker that they put over the original label that listed it at a lower cfm. I can't remember what it was labled as right now, but I can assure you it does not put out that much air. Conversly, I am not saying it is a bad fan, because it is not. I used this with a Tai-Sol cooler on a 1.0 GHz system and it worked quite well. I just don't want you to be disappointed as I was in the output. I am using a relabeled (Tai-Sol) Delta 6000 rpm fan with my SK-6 and yes, it is louder than the other fans I have but not bad at all. My temps are usually in the 39-42c at idle. Of the other choices, I'd go for the YS Tech 31.3 cfm fan. BTW NFS4, did you find a good price for that online or locally? Just curious as I am rebuilding my wife's system for her.

good deal, the ones that I have are the 40cfm fans... I'm replacing those with 80mm's though.. I'll run those ystech's at half rpm and cool my north bridge and something else (I haven't decided yet... about the only thing on my comp that dosen't have a fan on it is the sound card... heh)

Heh, I checked out the fan noises at that Sidewinder site and to be honest, I couldn't hear too much of a difference between any of them... hmmm....
