I'm looking for a DVD player, and looking for suggestions. I already have 2 Sampo without Macro and stuff, but want to save those. I'm looking for one that has real good fast forward. I want it fast and smooth. It also has to play VCDs. Also are there ones with a resume feature?

I got Pioneer DV-343 and it fits all your requirements...

plays VCD and has resume feature too...

so if i put a DVD/VCD in and take it out in the middle, it will go back to there?

It wont work if you take it out... but if you stopped the disc, and turn off the player, come back tmw and turn it on, it can resume to where you left off.... As long as you dont take out the disc it will resume...

Yep... it plays all formats I have ever tried... it's also all-region too, even though it doesnt say on the box... I have played DVDs from Asia without problems...

hows teh Toshiba SD2705 5 Disk DVD player. I hear multidis players are kinda slow. Also hows fast forward on the toshibas? I hear they have resume featue, is this true?

When you people are discussing the fast forward feature on DVD/VCD players, is it because some VCDs don't seem to have any kind of indexing?

My father has some VCDs, and if you stop in the middle, the only way to get through them is to fast forward (at a pitifully slow rate) all the way from the beginning. Is this a VCD fault, or is his DVD player just a piece of crud?

This DVD player is one of the bad Toshiba ones that can't play some DVDs like Aliens, Starship Troopers, and other stuff.

the fast forward is mainly the capability of the DVD player, some have realy fast, real smooth fast forward for everything, some have jerky slow crap.

Most DVD players have resume AFAIK. Check out this deal posted by Jokersmoker, one of the demigods at Hot Deals forum. One of the reviews says it plays VCD, but I don't think it does SVCD. You can't beat it for the price.

I've got the Pioneer DV-344, works great.. plays everything.. except mp3's ( that's what a computers for 😛 )

not sure what the go is between the DV-343 and the DV-344...
I'm from Australia... so it could be same thing different model no.. ?? I don't know..

anyway I also suggest going with Pioneer!

Cheers!

Amazon.com has the Toshiba SD2715 on clearance on for $99.88, not sure if it plays all the formats you want but it's worth looking into.

Toshiba makes excellent DVD Players.

can xbox play VCDs? If it can, i'm definetly going to consider it for the DVD alone. Then i can get the real good exclusive games.
