What's a good drain declogger?

So the shower drain at my home drains INCREDIBLY slowly (I'm in above my ankles after a 10 minute shower), probably hasn't been looked at in 10+ years. What's the best brand to use?

A plumbing snake is what you want. You can get cheap ones at HD or Lowe's for about 10-20 bucks.

rooto is good.
its acid.. it will attack and devour anything biological.. stuff is nasty.

but like mentioned ace hardware, hd, lowes, true value.. you can pick up like a 25ft snake for relativly expensive and that will definately unclog.

I've heard it's not good to use those liquid products. Use a snake that you can get from Lowes or Home Depot. That takes care of the job more often than not.

..I get Liquid Plumber at costco in 2 paks. Works well. The shower drain gets a little slow a couple times a year so I give it a shot of LP.

Get the gel version of either Liquid Plumber or Draino. Use a half gallon of it. Seriously. Let it sit for several hours. Seriously.

They sell gallon sizes of both at Lowe's for $12.

I get the contractor grade stuff at Home Depot. It works a lot better than the stuff you buy in Walmart.

Pour a cup or so of liquid bleach, let sit for a few hours, then put the plug in and fill a few inches with HOT water. Pull plug and let drain. Repeat if necessary.
this should clear any hair clogs without poisoning the waste water system.
Beautician's grade Hydrogen Peroxide works good , too, but it's not sold in grocery stores.

If there is an outside faucet near the bathroom window, try flushing the tub (and sink) drain with a high pressure garden/yard type hose and nozzle.

Just make you run a lot of water through it while you're pouring the lye to dilute and neutralize the base a bit.
