It's a laptop with a 2 GHZ Core 2 and 2 GB RAM, not too shabby for Linux, and I have an ok DSL connection, so the issue is storage space, not computing power. The thing is I found the flashdrive and it's sitting unused so I thought I'd put a distro in it just to fiddle with. I already have Linux Mint and Windows 7 installed to the Hard Drive and they work fine.low space comes with low computing power?
I think then Lubuntu should work fine.
Do you have at least 4GB of Ram? Do you have a fast internet connection?
If both answers are positive then you should think about loading extra data from the internet in the ram (much like a live cd)
The issue is the "comfortable 1gb" requirement. Corners have to be cut somewhere. I like SliTaz for a small distro. You could also try TinyMe, but I don't have personal experience with that. If you're willing to put some work in it, a Debian net install should give you a small O/S with exactly what you want.
In all seriousness, why was your first impulse not "new flashdrive?"
Because I found the flashdrive in a drawer and decided to do something with it rather than let it sit there. In all seriousness, why was your first impulse not "new flashdrive?"
