I need the credit card to pay for college stuff. Financial aid is retarded and gives out money a couple weeks after school starts. How the heck am i supposed to buy books. I need the plastic.
Unfortunately, having a card hooked up to an account that is originally in somebody else's name will not affect your credit in any manner. Since you're not responsible for the bill and they are they're the ones who have to pay it in time, and your card is merely an appendage on their account. A co-sign (parents co-sign for you and put their name on the application with yours as a show of good faith) will benefit your credit, but simply getting a card from their account with your name on it won't work. I could get one for my cat. It would say Abby Cat, but it won't help her creditOriginally posted by: johnjosh
if you can be responsible with your cc then ask your parents to give you one that is connected to there account, that way you will get low apr% and your cc history will be growing just make sure that you pay the bill on time.
