I have my Duron 600@1050 using a PEP66 YStech combo and want to find out how stable it is. It got me into windows with no problems. I have it @ 1.77v on my Asus A7V. I am wanting a good program that uses the CPU and tests how stable it is.

I just setup my Duron 650 @ 950 and I used this thing called BurnInTest 2.1 seemed pretty cool, it made the computer do a ton of stuff at the same time. Then to see how it did in games, I setup a bot match on Unreal Tournament with massive maps and like 20 bots and let it run for hours by itself.

Run a Quake III loop with the 2 demos and the quavor demo together. Email me if you want the loop. Its pretty damn intense and is a great stress test. Also 3dmark2k I guess would be a good test. Put like 50 Q3 or UT servers up at once, that will stress it out real good ;)

best bet
try all of the suggestions. if it survives them all, then its stable.

BTW, I hear people complain about RC5 crashing there overclocked system. Well its because it puts a 100% cpu load. Eavh of the suggested methologies would be a good idea to try. Since they will all stress your system differently.

i would try running quake 3 with max bots in a window, rc5, seti, and running a filter on an image in photoshop that'll max out your ram so a lot of swapping occurs. playback of vid files is good too. this will stress all of the subsystems in your computer. rc5 is almost all integer, seti fpu, and you have graphics and i/o going like mad. and if it crashes, well, you just lose the info in your swapfile.

Want a good stress tester? Microsoft Windows 2000 with Office 2000. :) Oh, you meant CPU stress tester? Same applies. :)

I am always using distributed.net client to stress test a computer. Cracking RC5 for team anandtech wouldn't hurt at the same time.

Another stress test I use is Quake3 demo loop. I use timedemo=1 option and loop the demo forever.

I don't like 3dmark as much because I think it is an unreliable program. It might just be me that thinks so, though.

Good luck
