I was thinking of the 2.4 Ghz Panasonics but read some nasty feedback on them.

Anyone have other suggestions in the 900Mhz or 2.4 Ghz range?

IMHO 2.4ghz, even the panasonic ones, are overrated...

The panasonic 900mhz Gigaranges are supposed to outperform them and you have more choices of models/features...

I have the Panasonic 900 Mhz cordless with digital answering machine, speaker phone, and
caller id. It is a nice phone for relatively little money...:D

My Radio Shack cordless for $25 kicks round, large, fatty pieces of flesh. And asses, too.

It may be cheap, but I like it and I've had no problems with it yet (only had it 4-5 months, though).

Stay as far away as you can from V-tech and Uniden (cheapo brands, anyway)

I've always wanted to get a high end cordless phone, like a sony or some other really cool looking phone

Panasonic 9370.

It seems to be a new phone. Just bought it for $99.99.

- 900MHz
- Answer machine
- Two mail boxes
- Dual dialpad
- Caller ID/waiting
- Personalized outgoing messages with caller id(Hi mom, leave a message)
- Personalized your own voice ring with caller id(hey "Total Refected Power" sober up, it's you mom on the phone)
- Access answer machine from handset so others can't hear your messages

The darn thing is so complex that it takes a while to learn the navigation. But it's worth it.

The only thing I don't like about the phone is that when you're dialing, the beep of each keypad entry is quite noisy. But all the other features easily compensate for this flaw. Look for it at Staples.

Yeah, don't get the Panasonic 2.4s. I've got the 2550 and it sucks ass. It's default primary channel is staticy for me and I have to change it immediately after I turn on the phone. It's reception is spotty and the key arrangement is ridiculous. You have to hit 3 keys in order to get redial. There is no single redial button! COME ON!

WoundedWallet:

Thanks, I will check it out. I always forget about Staples!

I will stay away from the 2.4 Ghz Panasonic for sure. Will go with a good 900 Mhz.

I second the notion to stay away from V-Tech. I've had their cordless 900MHz phone for little under a year, and for the past 6 months, after a full day of charging, I can't talk on it for no more than 45 minutes before it starts to die.

Yeah, yeah, I probaly have to change the battery or something, but what's the fun in that??:) I also have a friend with the same phone (different color though, does that matter??:)) and her's just cuts in and out all the time and sucks major ass.

I do not know the Freq range but DECT is the sweetest of them all! :)
I used to use Philips Kala until recently.
Now I got Philips Onis 2. Every feature you can want plus crystal clear sound.

redly, I agree with you on the V-tech phones, they suck. But Uniden has always been a, if not THE, top-rated phone out on the market. And everyone I talked to has been very pleased.

I believe I read somewhere that Sony actually gets information to make their phones from Uniden.

Oh one other phone to stay away from is the Siemens. My friend has it and says it sucks ass too. Didn't explain why though.

Right Buck these Siemens thingies kind of last forever. I have an old(three years) handset on a new(6 months) base station. We never run out of battery power. :D

I just bought a Uniden EXAI 7980 (900 Mhz, w/caller ID, Integrated Digital Answering Machine, Speakerphone, Extended Range) for around $70 at Amazon. I really like it, it's relatively small and has great range and sound so far.

Here are a few of the features: call waiting/caller ID, 15 minutes of digital recording time on answering machine, time/day stamp, 3-line backlit display, 30 number CID memory, new message indicator, outgoing message function and it has a pre-programmed answering message if you want to use the default. There are a bunch of other things, I'm actually still paging through the manual. It only took me about five minutes to set the thing up out of the box, but I haven't really looked at the advanced features yet.

Dammit! I got a 900mhz V-Tech phone. Damn thing cost me 90 bucks like a year ago. It's badass. I can talk on it up to 4 hours before it starts to die and that's not even on a full charge. And I get perfect reception all the time. Heh, I guess you guys got the crappy colored phones. Those suck major ass! See if you weren't so hooked up on appearance (not that my phone is ugly, it's just not colorful) you woulda got another V-Tech that's good. But that's just my honest opinion. But V-Tech phones are badass!
